Enjoy train rides along the scenic Esopus Creek
or through historic Kingston!
Board our Esopus Scenic Train (May-Oct.) at Mt. Tremper and step back in time to when train travel was the only way to access the Catskills. Visit the Empire State Railway Museum housed in the Phoenicia station to learn more about this region’s history! Throughout the year we also offer the Kingston City Limited (Saturdays May-Oct-Dec.) to help celebrate special events in the City of Kingston! The conductor checks his watch and the train whistle lets you know that your scenic journey is about to begin! Please join us as we prepare to expand service and work towards linking the Hudson Valley with the Catskills by rail once more. Don't forget, train rides are fun for the whole family! All aboard!
Our 2013 season begins May 25!

2013 CMRR Rail With Trail Report
On October 15, 2012, Dennis Doyle and Chris White of Ulster County Planning Department met with the Catskill Mountain Railroad to discuss “Co-Location of Rail and Trail” between MP 3 and 11, in the context of the 2006 Alta Planning & Design Study. This report is the result of the CMRR’s research into this matter. Since the meeting of 15 October, the CMRR’s planning committee has conducted an exhaustive review of the corridor between MP 3 and 11, focusing especially on the section from MP 5 to 10 to review the co-location of rail and trail as presented in the 2006 Alta study. >> Download the reports here.
